How do I enter AT commands for EM7355?

This is probably a dumb question but I am trying to figure out how to get to the point where I can enter AT commands for my EM 7355. I’ve downloaded PuTTY but can’t seem to access the COM port. I’ve read elsewhere that I may need to enable or unlock the COM ports for the EM 7355 but the only reference I found was from 2014 and the download link doesn’t work anymore.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

do you see the modem port in Windows platform?

I didn’t see the ports originally until I re-installed the drivers. Now I see “Sierra Wireless DM Port (COM6)” in Device Manager. I thought I could use PuTTY to connect to COM6 but I don’t get any feedback from any of the commands I enter.

Maybe there is another COM port I need to open?

You should use modem port for AT command.

That makes sense, any idea how to access the modem port or enable it?

Ah, got it now. I found out what port the modem is and it’s working now. Thanks so much for your help.

I’m having the same issue and was wondering how you resolved it. Did you use the Putty program? Was 6 the correct port number? How did you access the modem port?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Please check the port number from device mamager.

I think I accidentally figured it out. I re-installed the device drivers first and it seemed to show more options in Device Manager after that. I did use Putty but the COM port still didn’t show in Device Manager so I just kept trying to connect to random numbers and COM 7 finally worked for my machine.

Perhaps these methods worked prior to win11 and the latest USB driver. But I am not having any luck. I cannot get any com ports to show up in device manager and putty refuses to open ports that don’t exist in DM. I am using the latest driver I could find. GenericDriverSetup_Build4277.exe Any suggestions on how to get it to show the AT port?

Does this help?

does it work by using configuration.ini?

does it work in linux? (e.g. in virtual machine)

I tried the ini file but it looks like it is using some of the same command line params I was trying before. -USBCOM=8 was the one I expected to work. But it does not. No com ports are assigned so I cannot connect to the module to issue AT commands. I culd try a linux vm but don’t want to do that. My primary dev machine is this windows 11 one.

then you might need to contact distributor for solution if you don’t want to test in linux
good luck!

BTW, is "USBCOM=8 " a typo?

Yes, that was a typo. I don’t currently have a disty. I am testing Sierra for viability. Their website sent me to this forum. Do you work for Sierra?

what do you see in device manager now?

I still suggest you to test in linux in order to get more clue

Linux would be a waste of time for me. I will try direct comms using my embedded platform. Using my win11 PC was just a faster way to get started. It is dissapointing that Sierra does not keep their USB drivers up to date. Win11 has been out for quite a while now.

Does Sierra have any employees on this forum?

i don’t quite see problem with Win11 with the USB driver with EM74xx

Have you tried it? Do you see com ports?

yes, of course, I can see modem port with EM7455
