MP70 Keeps Dropping Connection

I have a Sierra MP70 (EM7511) that keeps losing cell service, here are the device stats:
Firmware: ALEOS 4.17.2
Verizon Radio Firmware: 01.14.20.00_VERIZON_002.058_000
Carrier: Verizon Wireless
APN: VZWINTERNET

This series of events just keeps happening and is causing the device to constantly go down and then back up again. At this point I’m unsure if it is a hardware issue, cellular issue, or device misconfiguration.

  1. Did the MP70 device ever work well before? Or is this the first time you’re using it and encountering this situation?

  2. Please ensure that antennas are properly attached to the MP70 device. Two antennas are required when connecting to an LTE network.

  3. Based on log file, I noticed that MP70 device was disconnected at first.

    Therefore, please share full log file and template file from MP70 with me.

***Here are the instructions for obtaining the log file and template file:

3.1. The configuration template file can be found in ACEmanager → Template. Provide any desired name for the Template Name, and then press Download to retrieve the template file.
3.2. Obtain the log file:

a. Go to AceManager > Admin > Log > Configure Logging.

Set all log levels to DEFAULT (NOTICE).

Set Linux Syslog to DISPLAY.

Then select Apply.

b. Reboot the gateway.

c. Go to Admin → View log → Download Logs.
4. Additionally, please try using a different SIM card to see if the disconnection issue still occurs.

I have found reason codes 1008 and 36 related to PDP context deactivation from Verizon. There could be many different reasons for this.

  • Therefore, please try moving the AirLink MP70 to a different location. A poor RSRQ value could be caused by a nearby laptop or other electronic equipment that may be interfering with the signal.

  • Additionally, please try using a SIM from another carrier to see if the intermittent disconnection issue persists.
