MP70 can't send email using smtp.gmail.com

When attempting to send test message (under Services>email(smtp)), I get “Failure : Connection to server impossible.”

I’ve followed the Setup the Device For SMTP TSL guide from here: ALEOS Email Services Setup | Sierra Wireless Support

I’m using my email address, and am using a password generated in gmail in the “apps password” section. This process has worked for me on on a linux system (a ham voip repeater).

MP70 firmware is v 4.16.2 and radio firmware is latest att version. Cell connection light is solid green, and the ACEmanager shows a valid connection/IP address.

Also, saw a message someware here that indicated i need to set the VPN out-of-band policies to enable outbound traffic, which I’ve done.

I’m looking for any further info to allow outbound emails. I’m hoping to use the built in functions to send notification of low battery conditions, etc.

Many thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @bmeyer2929,

Please share the full log file and template file on the MP70 with me.

***Here are the instructions for obtaining the log file and template file:

  1. The configuration template file can be found in ACEmanager → Template. Provide any desired name for the Template Name, and then press Download to retrieve the template file.

  2. Obtain the log file:
    a. Go to AceManager > Admin > Log > Configure Logging.

    • Set ‘Services’ log level to Info.

    • Set all remaining log levels to Notice.

    • Set Linux Syslog to DISPLAY.

    • Then select Apply.

    b. Reboot the gateway.

Execute the email sending process again.

    c. Go to Admin → View log → Download Logs.

Thanks,
