M2M Studio crashes frequently

I’m running version 1.0.2 on a Windows XP box. M2M Studio crashes fairly regularly when I’m in the Target Management screen.

I now have quite a collection of hs_err_pidXXXX.log files containing

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Any known solutions?

Hiya,

Just out of interest, what version of Java are you running?

ciao, Dave

D:>java -version
java version “1.6.0_13”
Java™ SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_13-b03)
Java HotSpot™ Client VM (build 11.3-b02, mixed mode, sharing)

are you using a usb to serial converter?

I’ve seen problems when using either USB-to-serial converter or a normal COM port.

I’m using a USB-to-serial, and it’s only crashed once.

Hiya,

I’ve got one PC using a FTDI TTL232R-3V3 USB to Serial cable and have no problems. I have another PC using a ‘proper’ USB ↔ DB9 serial converter (also using a FTDI chip) and have multiple hangs per day. Only difference (other than the converter itself) is that the TTL232R is driven through a powered USB hub…

I was only interested in case you were using a non Sun JRE (there is at least an IBM version) and that was causing the issues.

ciao, Dave

ghe, and i’m using it exclusively through a powered usb hub :stuck_out_tongue:
