LX-60 : Frequent "SIM 1: Not Present" when the SIM is present

Discovered in log of my LX-60s “alert ALEOS_ADMIN_logSysInfo: SIM 1: Not Present” when investigating a complaint of intermittent connectivity. Surveyed my other devices and found this in their logs as well, just not as much.

Can anyone comment, have you experienced this? What steps might solve or improve it?

Hi Ken, can you try these following steps

  • Reseat the SIM card.
  • Inspect the SIM for damage.
  • Update to the latest firmware.
  • Test with another SIM card.
  • Check for poor signal areas.

I hope this will work for you and resolve your issues also, if still facing same problem then it is better to connect with support team….

Actions tried today:

  1. Replaced Regular multi-sized SIM with Single size Rugged SIM
  2. Inspection of the original SIM (about 3 years old) found no damage or visible contact corrosion.
  3. The current firmware is 4.16, will leave for now so as not to change too many things at once.
  4. While there are many dead spots in Saskatchewan, there are none where loss of service was complained of.

Plan: Recheck logs in 10 and 30 days. Gather crew feedback if improved or the same.

Hi @Ken.Cardwell,

  1. Please make sure the SIM is inserted properly.
  2. According to your latest comment, does the issue still occur after you replace the SIM?
  3. Please send me the full log, template files, screenshot of ACEmanager (Status > Cellular) and screenshot of ACEmanager (as Figure 4-18 on page 103 of https://source.sierrawireless.com/resources/airlink/software_reference_docs/airlink-lx-series---configuration-guide/#sthash.Fij6gcLX.dpbs)

Thanks,

Screenshot of filtered log. More to follow. I want to wait at least 10 days before I check the log again.

I have good news and bad news.

The good news is that I haven’t had a single SIM 1 not present since I changed the SIM card.

The bad news is they’re still having trouble and there are a lot of:
“notice ALEOS_LINKMGMT_linkstatd: eth0 is now down” messages in the log. 134 to be exact.
Q: what causes these messages?

Hi @Ken.Cardwell,

According to your comment, you don’t have this issue after changing your SIM card. That means this issue is resolved after changing the SIM card.

Regarding the new issue you mentioned, please create a new topic and provide detailed information about the problem that you are facing.

Thanks,
