Only finding LWPA SIM. SIM in slot 1 not recognized

We put a new SIM in slot one but the XR80 does not seem to see it. I am trying to update teh APN but since it does not see a SIM, it seems I cant change that. I have done a number of MP70s and usually the SIM is identified and all I have to so is update the APN. Is there a troubleshooting guide or steps I should be following to get this up and running?

Hi @dflick,

  1. Please ensure that the SIM is still working properly. Have you tried inserting the SIM into another device (like a phone, tablet, etc.) to check if it’s still functioning?
  2. Please insert the SIM in the correct orientation as per the instructions in the quick start guide: remove the SIM card cover, insert the SIM, connect all antennas, and then power on the XR80.
For details, please refer to the AirLink XR80 Quick Start Guide at the following link: https://source.sierrawireless.com/resources/airlink/hardware_reference_docs/airlink-xr80----qsg/#sthash.3Wr74Ovp.dpbs
  3. After following the instructions correctly, please share screenshots of Status / Monitoring > System > Dashboard and Hardware Interfaces > Cellular Interfaces > Configuration with me.

Thanks,

Turned out to be a firmware issue. They shipped this with version 2! I upgraded to 4, then 5 and it found the SIM!

Is there a download location for all firmware versions so we can keep them current? I was given direct links to v4 and v5.

I also have some questions on how we can template these. I built the configs and pushed them and they mostly worked but the APN did not switch to manual with a custom APN the first time. It looks like there may be a templating feature but to create a template, we need to enter a PLMN but I don’t know how to find that information. Can you tell me how I can find a PLMN?

Hi @dflick,

Based on your description, I understand that you no longer have issues with the SIM and now you have a different question.
For the sake of tracking and narrowing down the issue, please create a new topic and provide detailed information about your questions.

Thanks,
Chau
