Hi,
We’re tying to establish communication between our Sierra Wireless RV50X SMS modem with Ignition software installed on our Server. The SMS modem and server both resides in different VLANS and are unable to communicate with each other. What could be the possible issue? We have already allowed for firewall rules between the two. Is there a NATting capability in our SMS modem we can use to cumminicate between different VLANS? or possible use an external NAT device to translate the network addresses?
SMS modem ip address is 10.87.162.x
Server ip address is 155.65.9.x
The RV50X supports NAT. Log into its web interface, enable NAT (found under WAN/Networking), and set up port forwarding to direct traffic from the server’s VLAN to the modem’s IP.
2. External NAT Device:
Use an external router or firewall if the RV50X’s NAT capabilities are insufficient. Set up a static route to forward packets between the VLANs and configure port forwarding for SMS communication.
3. Firewall Rules:
Double-check that both VLANs’ firewall rules allow the necessary ports and IP addresses for SMS communication.
4. Connectivity Testing:
Use ping or traceroute to test connectivity between the server and the modem to identify network blocks.

Which are the ALEOS and the Radio Module firmware that your RV50X uses?
Please send me the topology diagram when you establish communication between your Sierra Wireless RV50X SMS modem and the ignition software installed on your server to investigate this issue.
