EM7455 not recognized in my dell latitude rugged 5420 Laptop

Hello,
I have a dell rugged 5420 and I installed the EM7455 without doing very good research I believe but I want to know if there is a work around or something I may have done incorrectly because I cannot see my module in my device manager. I have looked for the windows software and firmware updates for this module but still no luck. Do I need to check for firmware with dell directly for this device or am I looking at a possible compatibility issue? Thank for any assistance.

see if this helps:

You might also install the USB driver:
https://source.sierrawireless.com/resources/airprime/software/airprime-em_mc-series-windows-drivers-qmi-build-5087/#sthash.a9FQU0VX.dpbs

Those com ports do not show any broadband device available and I have already installed the 5087 software. Thanks for trying.

then maybe the module is dead if there is nothing shown in device manager

You can try in linux and see if there is anything in kernel log

It is a new module and this laptop has never had one installed since I have owned it. I am not sure where to look for Linux.

you can install vmware to have ubuntu linux

Not sure if the driver from DELL can help:

that didn’t help. I removed the bottom case to make sure the module wires were connected and it was so I am planning to test this module on another computer tomorrow to see if the computer picks it up.
