Hello, I am new to the forum so I apologize if this has been covered already somewhere. If so, please direct me to it.
I work for a local city Police agency in the USA, Oregon, and we use Panasonic Toughbooks that come with the EM7355 card. I’ve got a user having internet lock up issues all over town and in and out of her vehicle dock. Nothing appears obvious in Event Viewer. I was considering swapping the modem to see if her issues improve.
My Question: I’ve seen EM7355’s online for $40, but we normally get them through Heartland Services for a lot more. Are all EM7355 cards the same?
Also, are there any connectivity tools available that folks use to troubleshoot these kinds of issues and verify the devices functionality and signal?
Thank you for your help,
Tyler
Hi Tyler,
The modem is the same but the online modem is most likely provisioned for other carriers and hosts.
I’d suggest to buy the modem from your usual source.
Thanks,
James
Thank you @Oedenburger. Do you happen to have any suggestions for tools to use to troubleshoot the device?
Thank you,
Tyler
Hi Tyler,
This may not be a modem issue.
When the lockup occurs , check the attach status:
at!gstatus? (is the modem LTE attached?)
at+cgcontrdp ( does it have an IP address?)
at!gcdump (did the modem crash?, note powercycle will clear the crashdump traceback)
what is the FW version?
ati
at!priid?
Thanks,
James
Thank you for the reply. It will be difficult for me to get to the MDC, while it is having the issue, as it is actively being used around the city. I will try to coordinate with the officer to see if I can meet them when the device is having the issue though.
I also updated the drivers/firmware with the most recent software available on the Panasonic website to see if that helps.
Standing by to see if the officer has any trouble with it this week after updating the drivers.
Thank you again for the ideas.
Tyler
Updating the driver appears to have fixed the issue. Thanks for your help!
