Software/Firmware updates over Wi-Fi

Hello, We have approximately 120 Sierra Wireless MP70 modems in crew trucks. We would like to be able to use AirVantage to update the firmware, but our cellular data is very limited. Is there a way to only run the updates when the modem is on Wi-Fi to avoid using cellular data? It is our goal to allow network traffic over cellular or Wi-Fi but only allow firmware updates over Wi-Fi (not cellular). Thanks in advance for any guidance! J King

Hi jking,

MP70 communicates with AirVantage over WAN link.

There are 3 interfaces: Cellular, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi. Only one interface is preferentially chosen as WAN at the same time.

So the only way to update firmware over wifi is switching the interface from Cellular to Wi-Fi and this switching cannot be done automatically when cellular is working well.

Thanks,

Jerdung,

Thank you very much. That is exactly what I needed to know.
