question: MP70 has MC7455. Firmware packages listed:

I thought these modems were multi-carrier. Does this mean one need to update firmware for specific carriers?

(Warning: Upgrading from ALEOS 4.15.x and earlier releases to 4.17.1 is not directly supported. AirLink MP70 routers must be upgraded to ALEOS 4.16.x (see MP70 Firmware List 4.16.2) before upgrading to ALEOS 4.17.1.)

→ It depends on the SIM you are using. If your SIM card belongs to a carrier specifically listed in those specific firmware carriers, use the corresponding firmware. And if your SIM card belongs to a carrier not included in those firmware carriers, use the Generic firmware.

Confusion. It the SIM is a multi-carrier that uses other networks (such as those listed above) will the Generic Firmware work with it?

In theory, the Generic firmware should work with that SIM, so go ahead and try using it. If there are any issues, please let me know.
