RV50X - Cellular connection goes from good to Network Link Down

Hi everyone,

It is my first time implementing an RV50X, during I encounter a strange issue where the device has decent connection:
AT Signal Strength (RSSI) -51
AT LTE Signal Strength (RSRP) -76
AT LTE Signal Quality (RSRQ) -7
AT LTE Signal Interference (SINR) 30.0

It successfully connects to the APN, receives a WAN IPv4 Address but suddenly it changes to Network Link Down and Signal Strength (RSSI) -125.

Rebooting or power cycling the device sometimes restores the connection again for a few minutes…

Any advice would be much appreciated.

To narrow down the issue, could you please answer the questions below:

  1. Please ensure that antennas are properly attached to RV50X. Two antennas are required when connecting to an LTE network.
  2. Please try using a different SIM that’s working fine to see if the issue still happens.
  3. Please get the log and template log by the instructions and send me:
  • The configuration template file is in ACEmanager → Template, provide any name you desire for the Template Name, and then press Download to retrieve the template file.

  • Collect logs procedure:

    a. Go AceManager > Admin > Configure Logging

    Set all log levels to DEFAULT (NOTICE)

    Set Linux Syslog to DISPLAY

    b. Reboot the gateway.

    c. Perform your test again.

    d. Go Admin → View log → Download Logs.

Thanks for your response!

  1. Both antennas are attached properly
  2. The SIM is working fine: I validated this using another device
    1. Sometimes the modem works/has signal for 2-3 minutes and all my functionalities work.
  3. You can find the template and logs attached.

Based on the log file you provided, I notice several lines showing:

Sep 17 07:13:17 notice ALEOS_CELL_RadioDiagnostic: Radio is in Low Power Mode. The LPM voters are: W_DISABLE

The radio module is in Low Power Mode because the W_DISABLE pin is asserted.
From the user side, that pin (W_DISABLE) is inside the RV50X router and I could not find any instructions in either the hardware guide or the software user guide on how to interact with that pin, so this is very likely a hardware issue.
Could you please let me know how many units you are experiencing this issue on?
