Network LEDs Blinking RED on RV50x

Hi,
I am trying to configure my Sierra Wireless RV50x to be used to send SMSs through Ignition Gateway. The network LED is blinking red and the signal LED is solid amber. I have connected one Sierra Wireless Paddle Cellular Antenna (6001110) in the Cellular slot. Do I need to attach another antenna to get network or is there any other configuration I am missing? I am using Bell Canada sim card. Can you also let me know which antenna should I get if any additional antenna is required and which slot to connect it at?
Many thanks

Hi @mian.mohsin,

Welcome to our community!

Based on your description, the signal level is Fair.

  1. Please let me know which radio module firmware the RV50X is currently running.
  2. How did you configure the APN for the RV50X? Was the APN assigned when you inserted the SIM, or did you manually configure it? Please share a screenshot of the Status > Cellular section on the ACEmanager web UI.
  3. Please try using a different SIM to see if a similar issue occurs.
  4. “Can you also let me know which antenna should I get if any additional antenna is required”
→ Please refer to the following link for more information on antennas for the RV50X: LTE Antennas | Fixed/Mobile Applications | Sierra Wireless

APN was automatically assigned when I inserted the sim

I tried Rogers sim and the network led is solid green. Not sure why the Bell sim is not connecting to the network. Any fix?

  4. Do I need 2 antennas? or one would be sufficient to send SMS notifications?

Hi @mian.mohsin,

If you have tried a SIM from another network (Rogers) and the network has connected, the issue may be related to your Bell SIM. Please check with Bell network operator to ensure that the APN is correct.

You can manually configure your APN using Override APN, please refer to pages 92 and 93 of the Software Configuration Guide at the following link: https://source.sierrawireless.com/resources/airlink/software_reference_docs/airlink-rv-series---configuration-guide/

“Do I need 2 antennas?” → Two antennas are required when connecting to an LTE network. Please refer to additional information on page 85 in the above Software Configuration Guide.

Thanks,
