MC7700 Overheating

Hi guys I have 2 MC7700 that I use with those mini PCI-e to USB boards. I have a MC7354 with the same board and it’s working fine but the MC7700 are just burning hot. So hot that I barely can touch the board let alone the modem. On Skylight I also get that message “Device Safety Mode” TEMP. Anybody know what would cause the modems to overheat like that? Modems are used is there a way to reset the modem to their initial state?

Thanks

Hi,
It can be due to some issue with the module or issue with the dev-kit. It will be good to contact your reseller to check the exact cause.

Thanks
Alex

Thanks for the reply. Is it possible that it’s a voltage issue? On one PC the modem plus the board are not running hot. Still can’t program the modem to actually go online but at least it’s not running hot. If I got on a different windows machine and a Linux machine the thing gets boiling hot. The USB boards have been tested with a working MC7700 and they are fine. Is there a way to go inside those modems and set different parameters?

Thanks

Yes, it can be voltage issue also…
you can check the module’s current power supply voltage information using AT!PCVOLT? command.

Thanks,
Alex

Where do you put all those command lines?

Hi,
you can see the AT command reference in the below path

Thanks But where do you actually enter the command lines? Is there a software or a terminal to enter the command lines?

Thanks

Hi,
In Linux you can use minicom
In windows you can go with hyperterminal or clear terminal.

Thanks,
Alex
