Is the BC127-APTX compatible with the BC127?

We’ve got a product that uses the BC127 and we understand this module is obsolete. We have managed to find BC127-APTX modules in the market and from what we can tell, they are the same HW as the BC127.

With that, I’ve got 2 questions - is the BC127-APTX and BC127 the same HW module? Is the difference between these 2 modules just FW? Would we be able to program these BC127-APTX modules to run BC127 FW?

there is no such firmware dedicated for APTX module:

From BC127 specification, it says " aptX codecs require an aptX license key":

So we’d need a key for this module.

With that, are the two modules the same HW? The reason I ask is that the end product is Intrinsically Safe certified and as long as the HW is the same we’re good on that front.

The second question is, can we load a new FW image into the module such that it’s just a BC127?

from the specification, there is no such hardware dedicated for APTX feature

That’s what we thought from reading the datasheet.

Can you please answer the questioni regarding being able to reprogram them? If that’s the case, then I think we’re good to go.

I’ve looked at your profile and it says you’re a developer with Sierra Wireless - can you confirm that as well?

Thanks for your help.

I don’t have BC127-APTX module
i think you better get a module to test
(this module has been end of life for many years, not much information i can obtain)

Thank you - I was wondering if we would just have to test.

I may reach out with further questions - thanks for your help.
