FX30s(WP7702) cannot connect, radio status is always searching

I’m using TW Mobile sim in FX30s and in radio status, it is always Not registered but currently searching for a new signal. But I’ve tested in WP7607 with same sim card and it works.

Hi there,
The TM image hasn’t been officially tested and released for the FX30 but you can try installing the radio firmware image from here:
https://source.sierrawireless.com/resources/airprime/software/wp77xx/wp77xx-firmware-release-9,-d-,1/#sthash.nuoPL3iB.dpbs
BR,
Chris

Still no luck to make it connect. After updating WP77xx Firmware Release 9.1 with one-click tool

The Generic carrier PRI is still current. Could you please post the output of the following commands:
AT!IMPREF?
AT!IMAGE?

If IMPREF shows the TMO image, you can try selecting it by the IMPREF assignment command. It would be something like: AT!IMPREF=“TMO”

Reboot your device and confirm the Carrier PRI is set to TMO

If that works, you’ll need to restore your FX30. By installing the one-click, you’ve installed the stock WP module code, which is different from FX30 code. ie, your hardware peripherals won’t function.

To restore your device, go to the FX30 firmware page and re-install the CatM R9.1 FX30 firmware using fdt2 or swiflash.

Then, download and install (fdt2 or swiflash) the TMO radio module firmware only:

Could you please tell me step by step instruction how to set AT!IMPREF=“TMO”. I can’t set it to TMO. Actually I don’t know what is TMO.
Thanks

@artistmonkey

So TMO is T mobile.

The firmware you have is pretty reliable so it should work. First thing I would try is through the AT command port and look for any networks that are around using the below command
at+cops=?

It will take a couple of minutes to complete but hopefully you should see something (implication is you can given you have a signal strength in the responses above, this will just tell you explicitly what you can see.

One thing to note is that with the default settings the unit looks for the weakest possible signal on NB1 and as a result it can take hours to fallback through NB1 - M1 - 2G automatically.

Matt

seem it work like normal but actually when I query cm radio in terminal, it is the same situation (always searching). By the way, I live in Taiwan and I’m using Taiwan Mobile 4g sim card. But this card is from previous worked WP7607. If i switched sim to WP7607, there is no problem and it can connect. For your information, I put some information of those two model at below.

@artistmonkey

So you can see the networks which is good.

As you say you cannot see a TW mobile network (either 2G, M1 or NB1) which is why this was not attaching. With regards the Chunghwa SIM, given it is able to attach to the network using a WP7607, the most likely explanation is that it does not have access rights to the M1 or NB1 networks (both of which you can see), and there isn’t a 2G network to connect to either.

Regards

Matt

Hi @artistmonkey,
My apologies, I misread TW Mobile and thought you were wanting to connect to T Mobile.

Could you please try the following:
AT!SELRAT=6
AT!BAND=9

This will set the modem to LTE radio technology and LTE bands only so hopefully it will register more quickly.
If it still takes a long time, you can try setting the radio to MB1 only (disable NB1):
AT!SELCIOT=0x02

BR,
Chris

SItuation is the same, when I’ve changed AT!SELRAT=6 and AT!BAND=9. SO, I set it back to auto and all band.
AT!SELCIOT=0x02 also can’t help. I left power on all day and when I checked cm radio, still searching. Don’t know what to do.

According to this website:

TW Mobile doesn’t support Cat M1, but does support NB1.

Perhaps AT!SELCIOT=0x04 might work? This will set the modem to NB1 only.

Be aware though, in earlier releases like R9.1, NB1 isn’t well tested and may not perform well. For example, FOTA is definitely not functional.

Are you able to use the FX30(WP7607-1) instead?

Changed to AT!SELCIOT=0x04 was the same. Anyway thank you for your time and I will contact to local dealer and let them find a way how to fix it.
