FX30S GPRS dial command

Hi guys,

We were supplying Insys GSM Small 2.0 as part of our product, but it is extinct so I’m looking for a replacement. I have a FX30S, but it’s not accepting my ATD command. Here’s my setup and dial attempts:

I’ve looked in the manual, but it’s not telling me much, nor are searches on these forums and elsewhere. What am I missing?

Thanks for your help,
Cheers,

How about

atd*99***1#

Also how is at!gstatus?

Hi jyiyji, thanks for the look-in. ATD*99***1# is my default dial string, it also returns error.

at!gstatus?

Interesting that gstatus look all negative. I believe the SIMs are not enabled for 4G yet, but the modem then should drop back to 2G by default (3G is also blocked because the customer was having reliability issues).

Check at!selrat? And see if it is lte only.

at!selrat?
!SELRAT: 12, GSM and LTE Only

So it should do GSM.

Going down the SELRAT rabbit hole, I also checked:
AT+KSRAT?
+KSRAT: 9

I set AT+KSRAT=0, but still get the error on dialling ATD99**1#

Can we set to gsm only in at! selrat

It must be attached before atd99**1#

+KSRAT options:

• 0—All RATs, automatic
• 1—GSM only
• 2—UMTS only
• 4—UMTS and GSM

USB is not an option. We need this modem to connect to an RTU, which does not have a USB port. I need a drop-in replacement for the Insys GSM Small 2.0. If a £200 modem fails, I need to replace it with another £200 modem, not rebuild the entire £5000 panel to get a modem working.

I’ve noticed that your firmware is a higher rev than mine:

Mine:
AT+GMR
SWI9X06Y_02.16.06.00 7605a6 jenkins 2018/06/20 17:56:12

But when I look at the firmware release page at https://source.sierrawireless.com/resources/airlink/software_downloads/fx30-firmware/fx30-firmware-3g/, the release version is called R14.0.4.002, which doesn’t correlate with the reported format.

When I look in the firmware image, I can see it’s tagged
SWI9X15Y_07.12.09.00 r34123 CARMD-EV-FRMWR1 2017/04/26 23:34:19

Would you recommend I upgrade to this firmware? Is there a significant difference between SWI9X06Y and SWI9X15Y, and are they compatible?

Also, I have been trying to get more detailed error reports, but it appears they are not supported, does this sound right?

I think you downloaded the wrong FW.

Didn’t you should download the fw from here which is for FX30S(WP7702)?

https://source.sierrawireless.com/resources/airlink/software_downloads/fx30-firmware/fx30-firmware-catm/#sthash.7q6izMfZ.dpbs

Hi jyijyi, either I’m having a very blonde moment, or your documentation is seriously lacking. I’ve just spent an hour reading and Googling, but I cannot find a solid way to upgrade the firmware. The manual just says:

SSH on USB:
1. Copy FX30_WP8548_full_R14.0.4.002.cwe to the FX30 file system using scp.
2. Open an SSH session.
3. Execute fwupdate download FX30_WP8548_full_R14.0.4.002.cwe .

With some intuition I found the modem is at 192.168.2.2 when connected via USB, but what is the SCP username and password??
