Hello everyone,
We are dealing with a problem involving Wavecom Fastrack M1306B modem. We were installing some environmental monitoring equipment in the field lately.
Loggers were equipped with GSM modems and preconfigured by the equipment supplier. They were meant to be connected to PC’s (one machine with Windows XP, second with Windows Server 2003) via Wavecom Fastrack M1306B modems. Unfortunately we faced a serious problem with the Windows Server 2003 machine.
If we connect the modem to the running computer, the modem won’t be listed by the system device manager. When the communication application starts we receive an error message:
“Could not initialize the modem. The modem does not respond.”
If we shut down the computer first and connect the modem afterwards, the computer won’t restart (i.e. Window Server hangs on restart). The only way to restart the computer successfully is to unplug or switch off the modem again. The modem itself was checked on another machine (with Windows XP) and it worked. I would appreciate your advise on that. Thank you very much in advance.
