ES450 firmware update error

Tried updating firmware on a particular ES450 from 4.5.1 to 4.9.3. At first, I did this via ALMS to several ES450s running 4.5.1 and all of them updated successfully except this one. As a workaround I tried updating the firmware from ACE Manager but I kept getting the error “Could not find file swinstaller in package.” I tried updating to 4.9.2 and 4.8.1 first to see if it would make a difference, but I still got the same error.

I’m having the same problem. Where’s the answer, Sierra?

Hi Mitzi.Smith,

Could you please try to put your device in Recovery mode and then install the firmware? You could download the document below and follow pages 15-17

https://source.sierrawireless.com/resources/airlink/software_reference_docs/airlink-aleos-configuration-guide-es450/

In case the issue still happens, please follow the article below to request RMA.

Thanks,

Hi Jerdung,

First of all, THANK YOU so much for the response and instructions! I responded to a message online for ES450 but I’m actually working with GX450s. I went to your website and downloaded the configuration user guide for the gx450 and am looking at Recovery Mode on that document.

One question before I begin: I am located in another state and doing these remotely. Will I be able to put this in Recovery mode remotely and not lose my ability to connect to the device? It looks like the instructions are for someone with direct access using the 192.168.13.31 IP. Also, the GX450s that I am trying to update are on 4.5.1. I am trying to go to 4.9.6. Do I need to go to 4.7.0 first and step up? If so, where can I get this version? I don’t see it on your site, but I may not be looking in the right place.

Thank you!

Mitzi

I can clearly see that remotely doing this is not an option. I’ll send a tech out and see if he can perform this process successfully. Thank you again for your response! Much appreciated!
