EM7750s are "Turned Off" every reboot ever since 1903

does anyone knows if this issue has been addressed since 2020? this is March 2023 and still I am struggling to find a solution

I’m having this issue with the EM7421 module. there must be a fix somewhere by now?

Hi @tim.strange,

What issue are you currently experiencing? Please provide more detailed description.

Thanks,

When we boot into Windows the Cellular network is off, turning it to airplane mode and off enables the Cellular network.

Hi @tim.strange,

  1. What firmware is EM7421 currently running? If it’s not the latest version, please download and install it from the following link: https://source.sierrawireless.com/resources/airprime/minicard/74xx/em_mc74x1-approved-fw-packages/#sthash.2NYexTSP.dpbs
  2. If possible, please share a screenshot of the “Cellular network is off” status.
  3. Could you please share the output of the following commands with me?

AT!IMPREF?
AT!GSTATUS?
AT!ENTERCND=<“key"> (default is AT!ENTERCND=“A710”)
AT!BAND?
AT+CGDCONT?
AT+COPS?
AT+CREG?
AT!USBCOMP?

Thanks,

I am currently also experiencing other issues with connecting to the network, which is not being helped by the cellular card being switched off.
Here is how it initially looks after a hard shutdown

Hi @tim.strange,

Please switch to MBIM mode by entering the following commands:
AT!ENTERCND=“A710”
AT!USBCOMP=1,1,100D
AT!RESET

Then, close and reopen Skylight to see if the turn-off state persists.

Thanks,

Please switch to MBIM mode by entering the following commands:
AT!ENTERCND=“A710”
AT!USBCOMP=1,1,100D
AT!RESET

Well that was interesting!
I’ve lost the cellular button altogether, the driver don’t seem to recognize part of the card, reinstalling the drivers doesn’t help. and Skylight doesn’t detect a card anymore.

so, I’ve reimaged the computer and it almost works,

This fresh image works, in that windows detects and uses the APN from the Sim card, skylight is now letting me set profiles and it event connects to the internet (it wasn’t doing this previously). And windows does not need the flight mode cycled to enable cellular.

But…

there are three devices labelled “Sierra Wireless EM7421 Qualcomm Snapdragon X16 LTE-A” under the “other devices” with no driver.
If I install the driver, “GenericDriverSetup_5087” the cellular network disappears.

so, my question is, is there a different driver set for MBIM mode?

Hi @tim.strange,
