AT command do not work-Q2686RD

Hi all,
my company has a lot of q2686RD.
I’ve connected it to my pc serial port and was able to receive “ok” after sending AT.
but any other AT command only returns error.
the unit is placed on the dev kit 3.2.
boot is off and uart 1 is enabled.

the modem is from the factory. meaning its FW is the original one with no modification at all.
thanks , dor.

@Dor

So what have you tried? Can you try the below?

at+cmee=1
atcgmr
at+cpin?

Matt

Sorry that’s meant to be

at+cgmr

this is what i get :frowning:

the at+cmee=1 got me error.
i noticed after leaving the modem for a while it is sending +wdwl
so i tried AT+CFUN=1
the modem went in to reset.
but it didnt fixed anything.

@Dor

So this is all pretty old now and having to do this from memory but if you are seeing +wdwl coming out then it implies the unit is in a download mode and given the lack of response to the other commands it may well not be in a good place operationally.

You might want to try downloading the latest firmware to the unit using Xmodem
https://source.sierrawireless.com/resources/airprime/software/firmware-package-7,-d-,52_open-at-version/#sthash.WFpb5GkJ.dpbs

So the procddure will be

  • at+wdwl, wait for the $ (I think) per second to come out.
  • Xmodem download the dwl.dwl file to the unit.
  • Reboot and send at+wdwl to it
  • Wait for the $'s again and Xmodem the main file down (R7.52_Q2686RD.dwl)
  • Reboot and the unit should be running the firmware.

If that does not work then I suspect the units are broken, difficult to know without knowing their provenance.

hey Matt
worked fine.
the at commands youve sent me working (only the cpin retuned error)

Hi matt, if i may few more question.
1-every action i take regarding the sim is returned with +CME ERROR: 3
the open at doc state: “Operation not allowed
Access techno param filled while the
SIM/UICC file does not support it”
do you know/ remember how to remedy this?
2-when i used the xmodem you asked me to download the dwl.dwl file before the FW its self, what is the purpose of this file?
thanks.
dor.

@Dor

Fairly sure the unit is in operable/not running the proper firmware at the moment because it should respond to some of the commands such as ati and at+cgmr regardless of the state of the SIM or the network.

Re the dwl.dwl file, it is the bootloader that the unit will use to download the main firmware with, it never changed much but was always good practice to download first especially in your case where we have no idea what is currently in it.

Hi,
few more questions.
1.dose a modern sim will work with the unit?
2.have you ever encountered a problem with handover?

all at command set seems to work, i just cant recognize the sim for some reason.
thanks!
