Win11 native EM7511 driver?

Hello everyone,

I’m looking for confirmation on whether Windows 11 requires the Sierra Wireless driver for the EM7511 modem. A few weeks ago, I removed the driver from a test machine, and noticed that the modem still functioned post-restart. I’m unsure if this operation continued due to residual effects of the previously installed driver or if it’s a feature of Windows 11 itself.

We’re currently upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11, and we’ve encountered an issue where many devices are losing their APN settings and failing to connect. This has led me to suspect that Windows 11 might include a built-in driver which could be incorrectly configuring the APN settings.

Any insights or experiences with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I think it needs the driver

You can double check what exact driver is used in device manager

I was planning to test it this afternoon. The Win10 to Win11 migration is causing us headaches but we are working through it as they appear.

Are you try to un-install the driver and let win 11 auto get driver package?
