Still no chance to provide us a reliable, consitent upgrade plan of the FX30 product line? Any chance that the situation will be better in the future? We are not able the plan the next year without this information.
@karlkuhn, I think the main issue is that the FX30 modems are “side product” for some big customers, and that is why it is not (always) in focus and that is why they designed two differnt products, differing only in one interface (serialðernet), instead of creating one prodcut with both interfaces. It is maybe benficial for very big projects because of the small price differnce but a hell for many small customers they want to cover both.
At least do not seem to work with FX30S 3G. I see 2 problems:
mapping serial port do not work (AT!MAPUART? returms 17,0 and I only see /dev/HS0). After reflashing r14 I’m getting /dev/ttyHSL0 without any extra operations likely as I had before trying r17.
firewall settings (/etc/iptables.rules) are not applied at startup. Maybe modifications from /mnt/flash/ufs are not yet available when /etc/iptables.rules is read
Hi there,
Unfortunately, no, it’s not the FX30 R17 release. I apologize, but the package naming is confusing. This package is an artifact that is intended to contain the Legato portion only for the FX30 R17 release, but is actually a WP85 package. This is why your firewall rules do not apply properly.
To clarify, the naming convention of the Leaf identifier states the product type: swi-wp85
An FX30 package will be named: swi-fx30
I’ll add an additional post here once the official R17 release is available.
Hi Tom,
Rather than give you another date that might fall through, I’ll provide you a status update on the state of the release.
As you saw above, there was an incorrect Leaf package release that was removed. The package contains some vital bug fixes to the Legato framework in order for R17 for the FX30 can be released.
A new version of Legato will be released and validated with the FX30 R17 packages.
I would expect an end of March to mid-April time frame.
In the meantime, if you absolutely need an R17 version, please contact your FAE or go through your support channel and open a ticket. We can in some cases, provide pre-release firmware.
BR,
Chris
Hi Tom,
The FX30 3G R17 release is making progress. The WP8548 R17 release contains Legato 18.06.4 and undergoes rigorous testing before being externally released. So the FX30 release would normally also include the same Legato version. Because of a critical issue, a new Legato version,18.06.5 has been generated. The Legato version itself has been validated and we are currently validating the respective FX30 software.
I expect about more 2-3 weeks to complete validation and approvals.
Hi Chris,
Thx for the info update about the FX30 3G firmware.
Regarding the 4G variants, I meant what could we know about the future firmware upgrade path with my question.
Hi Tom,
The 3G R17 release is being targeted for release by the end of this week and should be externally available early next week. Will keep you posted. Sorry for the long delays and thank you for being patient.
The CatM R11 will be following shortly in the next few weeks.
