Wavecom must review policies regarding "Commercial Features"

There seems to be an endless stream of people being caught-out by the fact that certain facilities have to be specifically enabled (at extra cost) as “Commercial Features” - particularly the “Internet Plugin”

eg:

viewtopic.php?f=16&t=3947&p=15513&hilit=wcfm#p15513

viewtopic.php?f=16&t=3601&p=14094&hilit=wcfm#p14094
etc, etc, etc,…

Also: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=3919&p=15381&hilit=wcfm#p15381

There seem to be several weaknesses here:

  • Sales & marketing information needs to be clearer about this;
  • Distributors need to be more pro-active in ensuring that their customers are ordering the correct options;
  • User Documentation needs to clearly state where APIs, AT Commands, etc rely upon such features;
  • Error Codes and return values need to explicitly indicate where a failure is due to a missing plug-in.
