SL8090 questions and strange behavior

Hello,

I have an SL8090 module and have some strange topics and some questions:

At first power on the SL8090 responds to every command with either OK or ERROR.
Nothing happens. Even AT!MAPUART seems not to work.
Than after first insertion of a SIM-card the SL8090 responds normal. After removal
of the SIM-card and power off and on the SL8090 behaves normal too.
What is the reason for this and what can i do to avoid this.

How can i force the module to indicate new incoming SMS with +CMTI or something else like SL6087?

An other strange thing is. After reception of some SMS and deleting the first one i get the results below.
See my comments for Explanation:

AT+ICCID

+CME ERROR: operation not allowed

ICCID: xxxxxxxxxx…

AT+CMGF=1

AT+VTD=5

+CMGL: 0,“REC READ”,"+49xxxxxxxxxx",“14/02/04,15:38:23+04”

OK

i already deleted SMS with index 0 and i am sure that no new SMS is sent to the SL8090

also it is strange that index 0 comes two times with the same time and date as

SMS with index 1

this is the same behavior always at power on

no new SMS is send to the module (even Antenna was removed).

some seconds times later:

AT+CMGL=“ALL”
+CMGL: 1,“REC READ”,"+491737645249",“14/02/04,15:38:23+04”
Test
+CMGL: 2,“REC READ”,"+491737645249",“14/02/04,15:43:53+04”
Test

OK

this is what i expected and what should be the result of the first AT+CMGL=“ALL”.

what can i do to get an indication that the SMS system of the SL8090 is ready for work and

will respond as it should?

I asked my FAE for new firmware and the initial AT command password. He did not know anything of theese.
Can you please help me? I also need a procedure for downloading the firmware to the SL8090. I did not
find any helpful hints on the forum or the Sierrawireless homepage.

Is there a more detailed documentation on these topics?

Thank you for help,

Andreas Abele

Before doing that, did you discuss the actual issues you’re having

catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html#goal

I discussed the topics with the FAE. He told me, the fastest way to get an answer is this forum. One of the topics is the +WHCNF-command to switch off the uart sleep. Am i right that this command is password protected?
Sorry, if i did not comply to “How To Ask Questions The Smart Way”. I will try to make it better in future.

Thanks,
Andreas
