SL8082T Firmware Upgrade Program

Hello,
I have the following two problems that welcome suggestions.

  1. I tried to upgrade the firmware of SL8082T using both
    R7.53.1.A1.201504291449_SL808x.exe and
    R7.54.0.A1.201603171313.SL808xA_22_1.exe

In both cases, the program started the download process.
At around 98% of the download, the program reported “Checksum Error”
and the download process stopped.

I tried several times with the same results.
Does anyone having similar problem?

  1. I tried to upgrade the bootloader using “SIERRA_BOOT_B04.05.18.00.SL8RD.dwl”.
I used a terminal program in Windows 7 and download with x-modem.
The download process started but near the end it reported that
    “Transfer terminated by remote system”.

All suggestions are welcomed.

Best regards,
Randy

Hi,

I have experienced the same with an SL8082BT module and the R7.54.0.A1.201603171313.SL808xA_22_1.exe Binary Updater program on Win7.

Currently I don’t have any solution for this issue.

I have found on the forum a suggestion to remove the user program with the at+wopen=4 command, but the result is the same.

Best regards,
Tibor

Hello Tibor,

Thanks for your information.
I really need to upgrade the firmware to make my program works.

Currently I have one SL8082T module that I got from vendor directly with R7.53 in it.
It works well with my program.

I just don’t understand why Sierra Wireless has made it so difficult for users
to upgrade the firmware.

Best regards,
Randy

We used Developer Studio for update from 7.53 to 7.54 and all was ok. Bootloader too was loaded with Develeoper Studio and all was ok. What FW is on Your System when You want to load 7.53?
From a cleared system to a usefull FW we used the Binary Updater for loading 7.53. Upto now that worked with two systems.

Hi All,

I have got the information from the local Sierra-Wireless partner company, that the fw upgrade from R7.52.2.A5.201411281219.SL8082BTR 1804452 112814 12:19
to
R7.54.0.A1.201603171313.SL8082BTR 1997208 031716 13:13
is not possible in one step.

"Firmware upgrade 7.50, 7.52 or 7.53.0.A1 to 7.53.1.A1

When firmware version already installed in AirPrime SL808x module is previous 7.53.0.A1 WP13 (7.53.0.A1.201403141508), upgrade must be done in two steps:

  • First step is: download 7.53.0.A1 work package 13.1 as the Firmware transition to manage memory mapping change.

  • Second step is normal update: download new boot loader + Firmware

CUSTOMER impacts about upgrade procedure are:

• File system partition will be erased during the migration:
– Modem configuration will be lost ( AT commands persistent parameters)
– Customer data stored into the file system will be lost.
• For customer data, it will be the customer responsibility for saving its critical data before the migration and to restore them once the procedure is done.
– This backup procedure could be done through the AvMS server.
• Open-AT Application partition is reduced from 16 MBytes to 6 MBytes
• Open-AT File System partition size is unchanged (32 MBytes).
• During the bootloader upgrade procedure, the module shall not be powered down. If such a case happens, the module shall be only recoverable via the JTAG interface."

I was changed succesfully the software with the Binary Update Tool on USB connection.

Predy

Hi Predy_,

I am trying to do the same upgrade… But I do not have the transition package 7.53.0.A1 that you mentioned in your post and I do not know where to get it from.

Can you please send me a download link for 7.53.0.A1 WP13 (7.53.0.A1.201403141508) package or share it via FTP if you don’t mind?

Thanks for any help in advance,
Anil

Hi Anil and others,

did you mange to find the 7.53.0.A1 transitional package? I’m also looking for it to upgrade a number of SL8082T using it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards,
Harald

I was able to find the 7.53.0 transition package, 7.53.1 and 7.54.0 I was successfully upgraded my unit.

Now I have this problem… Any clue?

I upgraded few of my SL8082T/SL8084T modems from 7.52 to 7.54 (I first upgraded to 7.53.0 then 7.53.1 then 7.54.0). Everything works except the Microphone Gain.

On version 7.52 the microphone gain is really good. But after upgrading to 7.53 or 7.54 the microphone gain is really low. There is no way to change the again using AT+VGT or AT+WDGT. Those commands returns ERRORs … See below.

Please see the command output below… ANY HELP appreciated!!! Thank you.

Dear Predy,

Hi, this is an old thread but in case anyone is still watching, please check my question - Firmware package 7.54.0.A1 for SL808xT/BT digital signature revoked by Sierra Wireless? Has it been compromised?

My apologies if I’m bringing any inconvenience.
