The operating will tell you through +CREG indications, if the device is registered on the home network (+CREG: 1) or in Roaming (+CREG: 5). If you don’t want to have different behavior in your application for those cases, you don’t need to make adjustments.

However, be carefull, as GPRS roaming can be very expensive. I’ve heard of some very unpleasant surprises.
Use AT+COPS or some other operator selection machanism before You reattach on GPRS.
