OpenAT OS

#1

Hi,
Iam new to Embedded programming and Wavecom
Iam familiar with At Commands
Iam studying the Features of Wavecom Q24 series
Could any one tell the capabilities of OpenAT OS,
Does it support multithreading,
How file management is done in Open At OS,can we create directories?
Is the feature limited to Standard APIs(like Sound API,WAP API etc) which are shipped along with modem?
Please provide samplecodes/Tutorial links.
Kindly reply,
Thanks in Advance,

Are you also a beginner in Embedded System programming?

Have you looked at the samples included in the SDK

Why particularly a file

Files are usually associates with some sort of mass-storage - such as a disk.
A Wavecom device - like many emedded devices - doesn’t have any such storage medium.

More specifically, I think you mean that you “know” file creation on a desktop computer system - like a PC?

On a desktop computer system - like a PC - you have a file system - such as FAT-32 or NTFS.

The ANSI ‘C’ library calls (fopen, etc) simply provide an interface to the host’s file system.

Therefore, if you want to create and/or use files on a Wavecom device, you are first going to have to implement a file system - which will probably also require you to provide some sort of mass-storage device.

This is not really a task for a beginner!

But, probably, you don’t really need files at all - try to think about what you’re actually trying to achieve before tieing it down to a particular implementation…

Thanks for the mail sir,
It was very helpful,
Iam beginner in Embedded Systems Programming,
I went through the samples
My objective is to create an application which logs the Events like SMS Recieve ,SMS send etc,
i will use this file later for some specific tasks,

Therefore, if you want to create and/or use files on a Wavecom device, you are first going to have to implement a file system - which will probably also require you to provide some sort of mass-storage device.

By this you mean to say i have to add external memory to do File management?

What all are the steps to implement File system?
Please correct me if iam wrong.
Thanks Again,
Aravind
