Œ and ÿ characters returned from modem

Hi, i’m getting œ and ÿ characters returned from modem and after that the modem hangs. Does anyone knows what is causing this?

Sounds like you’re getting garbage.

Or, perhaps, you are in some raw binary mode?

There may also be other stuff in there which just doesn’t happen to display.

Do you have something that can display the raw hex values…?

I’m using GL6110, when i issue AT+CMGL=4, i get the following:

at+cmgl=4

ok
œœœœœœœœœœœœœœœœœœœœœœœ

There are a couple of times, i get:

After that the modem hangs.

IS it a PDU message?

Are you sure it’s actually the modem that hangs? It could be that all that stuff is setting the terminal into some wierd mode…

No, not PDU, just AT commands.

The modem does not hang completely. The signal indicator light is still blinking, but nothing can get through or receive from the serial port - firmware hangs?

This problem affects the newer modems. The old modems are more stable from experience.
