We use the WP8548 on our own design. We have produced about 500 hundered gateways but 1% failes our test with no service. We use a sierra esim. Se pictures below:
Is this some sort of hardware failure? Tried with different antennas.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Do you have access to the AT commands? You can get to them either through the kernel (‘microcom /dev/ttyAT’, when you send this command nothing will happen but type AT and you will get OK back) the USB or UART1.
Assuming you can, are you able to send the below commands?
ati
at!gstatus?
at+cpin?
at+cops?`
at+cops=? //This one will take a minute or two to complete

Sure.
The error to the at+cops=? is very odd, everything tells me it should work. Have you tried another SIM to see if it attaches?
