New Q24Plus do not work with a symbolic domain address

Hi!

I try to migrate our firmware from Q2406B to Q24Plus modem now.

Problem:
Use symbolic address instead of numeric IP address do not work as expected.

Affected commands:
AT+WIPCREATE
AT+WIPPING

Q24Plus has been attached and will preset as described in documents WIP_AT_Commands_User_Guide_V2_01.pdf and Porting_Guide_From_Edsoft_v3_10_to_WIPSoft_v2_01 .pdf

Is anybody know about my mistake? Which option will be switched ON to use symbolic domain names?

Yes, I have also seen problems with names (as opposed to IP addresses) when using the WIP plugin in embedded applications.

It seems that there is some problem with DNS in WIP?

I think too, but Q2406B work correctly at the same Network and SIM-card! We have hundred’s devices on Q2406B which calling base station by its symbolic name.

Additionaly, as we can see the WIP DNS parameter:

DNS server address correctly taken from the Network.
Is new version of WIPsoft exist? :wink:

Please correct me if I in a mistake…

The last WIPSoft I got is version 3.01 (check with AT+WIPCFG=3)

Last firmware I tested with was 6.57d

A new version is slated to be released by end of december, which will fix various issues.

No, Q2406B have eDsoft TCP stack and properly defined protocol but Name of TCP server can be placed booth in numeric or symbolic format. I can do one time test Q2406B and Q24Plus with same Network condition and use same SIM-card.

I don’t think so - I think it’s WIP, not the device firmware :question:

Until the new developer website arrives, you can’t download it - you have to request it from your Distributor.

As I said earlier (and you quoted me) - it sounds like the problem lies with WIP - not with the device or its firmware.

Nice, but how to fix this problem?
I have to pay for 100pcs of Q24Plus devices which may be “ready to work” as declared… The WIP library not to buy separated, this is preinstalled component of Q24Plus. The DNS resolve is mandatory TCP stack function.

Is it true: all version’s WIP application have DNS bug?

Does this mean it’s been acknowledged as a genuine problem by Wavecom?

Is there a full list of versions affected?

Does it require both the new firmware and the new WIP, or is one or the other sufficient?

I have not dirrect responce from Wavecom. The Distributor put two DWL files only without comments to me. Possible he is not understand the Wavecom responce or questions was asked thru “tree-hands”. I’m happy to take the responce at once!

I can update WIP only to satisfy your interest (we have 98 pieces for experiments).

DNS bug will be present in Wavecom Q24Plus with WIP stack (see for just version numbers in head message).

My last message indicate GOOD version’s without DNS bug. I have executed procedure of updating by files:

657e_full_q24pl001.dwl 1,277,201 bytes
WIPSoft_v301.wpb.dwl 167,060 bytes

Update take about 10 minutes.

So, I’m very interesting to take official Q24Plus AT command reference for 6.57e and WIP3.01 now… I has trap by next problem but it is question for another thread.
