MC7710 bricked after firmware update failing.

Hi everyone,

I am trying to upgrade a MC7710 to the latest firmware and it has decided to die on me.

I was previously on:
Firmware: SWI9200X_03.00.11.00AP R4152 CARMD-EN-10527 2011/12/20 14:52:19
Bootcode: SWI9200X_03.00.11.00BT R4152 CARMD-EN-10527 2011/12/20 14:44:40
Hardware version: 203F1000 (this may be reporting wrong)

And I was planning on going to
Firmware: SWI9200X_03.05.24.00ap r5792 carmd-en-10527 2013/05/02 13:35:47
Bootcode: SWI9200X_03.05.24.00bt r5792 carmd-en-10527 2013/05/02 13:28:17

I installed all drivers and then proceeded with the upgrade which failed. I attempted again and it failed again.

This is the error I am getting on a Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit:

The only thing showing in device manager is the: “Sierra Wireless DM Port (COM 14)”

Is anyone aware of what I am doing wrong or what I can do to recover from this?

Considering it is able to switch modes I am hoping it is still recoverable.
Thanks for all your help.

Here is a bump to see if anyone has any ideas?

I have got my company contact to request support from Sierra Wireless but so far all they have done is send a link to the software that I used to brick device.

Anyone at all? Is there any recovery method anyone knows of?

in which mode did you use the module? QMI or DIP?

QMI all the way.

Hi all,

For reference, I have resolved my issue. It appears I was using a poor quality USB PCI-E dock. I had a colleague visit from another country with a different style dock and it worked first time.

Thanks.
