Getting different RSSI value in HL7692 and RC7620-1 Modem

Hi,

I have identified regarding the performance of two different modem models, HL7692 and RC7620-1, in my device.

Upon conducting tests in the same location, using the same SIM card and operating on the same band, I observed a significant difference in the RSSI values between the two modems. Specifically, the HL7692 modem is displaying an RSSI value of 3, whereas the RC7620-1 modem is consistently showing an RSSI value of 18 under identical conditions.

It is crucial for me to ascertain whether one modem is indeed performing better than the other, and if so, the reasons behind this performance variance.

I am invested in resolving this matter to enhance the performance of our devices, and any assistance or guidance you can provide will be invaluable.

you can check RSRP value while in LTE mode
In your RC7620-1, it shows -108dbm in AT!GSTATUS

in your HL7692, it shows 34 in +XCESQ which means in between -107dbm and -106dbm

Hi jyijyi,

Thank you for your response,

Our devices are programmed to calculate the signal level from RSSI value getting from the modem.
as you can see in the above logs in RC7620-1 modem it is -78 but in HL7692 +CSQ:3 means RSSI -107 (as per AirPrime_HL76xx_AT_Commands_Interface_Guide).

if the RSRP values are almost same so why the big difference in RSSI value?

i saw that from the AT command guide of HL76xx:

So maybe you can take RSRP as reference
