Hi,
I have a ThinkPad Yoga 370 with the EM7455 card installed. The OS is Windows 11, and it is up to date.
I’ve tried multiple times to get the card working with the SIM which always worked with no issues in the past. The SIM card works perfectly when it is inserted in a standard smartphone. The settings for the APN are correct.
I’ve tried different drivers and firmwares, both from the Lenovo website and from the Sierra website. I’ve managed to get it working using the Sierra official Windows Drivers Package (Build 5087) and the Vodafone-approved firmware SWI9X30C_02.24.03.00, PRI 001.001_002.
The EM 7455 card works until I restart the computer. After that, it doesn’t work anymore and I needed to reinstall the firmware every time (with the SIM card inserted) to get back the internet connection again (note that recently I found out that this trick/workaround doesn’t work anymore!).
Every other firmware version gives a “No service” error, even if the EM7455 card is correctly installed (I can see it in the Device manager) and it is using the specific Sierra driver (not the generic Microsoft ones; double checked this in the Device manager too). Even the network (carrier) is recognized, but still: “no service”.
As far as I understood, the card tries to connect to the 3G network, which has been turned off recently by the carrier in my country (Italy). However, I do not know how to force the card to use the 4G LTE network only (the EM7455 card installed in the PC is supporting the band of the Italian carrier/provider).
As far as I understood reading the forum, I should send some commands to the card using a command line tool, but I’m not really sure about how to do this (and which commands I should send).
Is there a guide or is there someone who can help me, telling me what to do exactly step-by-step?
Thanks!
