I’ve just downloaded and run the M2M Studio installer - and got a nasty surprise when the installer scuttled off out to the web without warning and downloaded Eclipse and the rest of the M2M studio packages.
Is is possible to get the entire M2M Studio application as a bundle (e.g. exe file) - as I want to install the software on another couple of PC’s, and don’t want to download it multiple times…
Other than that, first impressions are good. The dev team has put a bucket load of work into this ide (yes, there is a functioning help system there too) and it now really feels like the other Eclipse based IDE’s that I use. Imported an existing project in OK, and it compiles in a signifigantly shorter period of time than previously. Off now to try to download the image to my target.
[Edit]BTW, if you’re looking for the software after you have run it for the first time, you’ll have to find the M2MStudio.exe file in the directory where it was installed. The installer doesn’t add a Shortcut Icon to the desktop, nor does it add to the existing Wavecom menu in the Start->Programs list.
I had tried installing M2MStudio. I did not launch the application after the installation was complete. I shut it down after the installation finished and then double clicked on the exe within the directory where i had installed it.
i received this error message:-

I had the same error…
There was no error when I had it running in Windows XP compatibility mode:
Right click on the exe --> Properties --> Compatibility --> Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 2).
Success!

When I installed M2M Studio – I downloaded the exe version – I never got a chance to name a destination folder at the start of installation.
I would have guessed that it would install into OpenAT, but ended up buried in some Temp folder.
I think it is the normal OpenAT installation folder so any later installs would wipe it out.
A simple move to a handier folder did the trick.
I found out the hard way that the installation would not run in Vista (just another OBTW) and now, neither does M2M Studio.exe.
Both have to be in XP compatibility mode.
Yeah, I found the same thing. Also, the unpacked directory is removed when the application is closed…
The EXE appears to be an auto-unpacker wrapped around the directory contents with a startup script that is run after the contents have been unpacked. It would be nice to prompt for the destination, rather than just run the M2M Studio application.
The Oasis OpenAT downloaded executables do the same thing - unpack to a temp directory, run a intermediate program, then delete the temp directory when finished.
It now seems to have been fixed to create a Desktop item, but still no ‘Start’ menu item - see: viewtopic.php?f=78&t=3173
Also, the Desktop item is only created for the user that installed it - there is no option to also provide icons for other users of the same PC - see: viewtopic.php?f=78&t=3172
