EM7565 B48 capability?

I want to confirm that my EM7565 module has B48 capability. The wireshark trace when I latch on to a cell at e.g. band 3, does not show B48 in the UE capability list. I am unable to latch on to a B48 cell. How can I confirm that I have the correct HW / Fiirmware for B48 operation?

Please check by at!band?

I have a test AP radiating in B48 and the module does not see it in at+cops=? scan. It sees operator networks.

@colin.seltzer

So the PTS states B48 is supported so it will be. You need to make sure that you have a ‘recent’ unit (so less than 12 months old) to make sure it is enabled by default. As it is part of CBRS and when the device was launched FCC had not formalised the bands we had to completely disable it in the flash and you need a one click updater to enable them.

Once enabled then the unit should just see it as a.n.other network.

If you need this then please go to your support channel (distributor/FAE).

Matt

You can try my Fw…

Hi Colin,

I’m assuming you’ve likely solved this by now, but as I’m just going through the same issue I thought I’d post here as well to try and help others.

I have just purchased an EM7565 from digikey (Sep '20), and have seen exactly the same issue as you describe (no band 42/43/48, and the same firmware version in the supplied unit (01.07.02.00).

Updating to latest firmware (01.11.00.00) per jyijyi’s suggestion does not help; those bands still remain disabled.

While these could be old/early units which had CBRS disabled, Digikey have quite a number, so it is unclear whether the disabled version has been continued as a part for production reasons perhaps. In any case, I note that there are two EM7565 parts available from Digikey, with manufacturer part numbers EM7565_1103520 and EM7565_1104207. From elsewhere on the forum, I found a separate query relating to these, suggesting that the former is non-CBRS, and the latter is CBRS; I’ve not been able to confirm this, but since the part I ordered was the former, this might be correct.

I have contacted Digikey to ask for the “one click update tool” to enable CBRS - I just hope they know what I am asking for and have it available. Ordering the latter part may be the necessary alternative, though it would be good to know this without having to make speculative purchase.

Following up, I can confirm that the enable-CBRS software does enable the bands on the EM7565_1103520 device I had purchased. End-to-end testing not yet performed, but the bands now appear in the AT!BAND=? listing, so I believe all is good.
