+CME ERROR: 10

I’am a mexican guy who lives in mexico whit no experience what so ever in AT commands and bad english, I buy a fast trak supreme wm 20452 because I wish to send sms to my clients, the app named smslist (www.smsco.it) already read the modem but says there is an error (no SIM) still the SIM inside placed in the right way (I heard click and I move the cover the one is black like a small switch), the people from the company who sale me the soft (smslist) says is something wrong whit the hardware (modem). Please, if someone knows how to fixed tell me please, return the modem will take me 2 to 3 weeks and I was glad and exite for my purchase, I paste the test the people from smslist do whit the hyperterminal, in advance thank you very much. Your English seems fine to me!

If you’ve bought it new, you should try speaking to the supplier.
They should be able to speak to you in your own language, and talk you through some tests to find the cause of this problem.

Note that you don’t actually need a modem to do that at all!
There are plenty of services that will allow you to send SMS direct from a PC using an internet connection.
In fact, Skype can do this.

They are correct - the modem is telling the software that it thinks it has no SIM.

Are you sure that the SIM is correctly inserted - the correct way up - and that the little black tab is fully pushed over it?

Can you connect Hyperterminal to the modem, so that you can send AT commands to it, and see the responses?
If you can, try AT+WIND = 32767 to turn on the “+WIND:” indications.
Then AT&W to save the setting
Then AT+CFUN=1 to reboot the modem (or just turn the power off & on)

You should then see a series of messages something like this as the modem starts:

With your modem, you should have received a document that describes all the AT commands - including these +WIND: indications.
If you don’t have it, contact your supplier.

The key ones are:
+WIND: 13 => SIM rack is closed
+WIND: 1 => SIM inserted

and the WIND: 10 and 11 indicate that the SIM has successfully initialised.

No - the “+WIND:13” is the response that should come from the modem - it is not what you type!

The commands that you need to type were in Bold in my previous post!

Do you mean that you will send a very large volume of SMS messages?

In that case, this is really the wrong solution! :astonished: :open_mouth:

You really should not be using a modem for high-volume sending!

You really need to look at a bulk SMS service via an internet connection.

Try googling “bulk SMS mexico”, or maybe talk to your service provider?
