WP7607 GNSS Support

Hello,

Has anyone here done any extensive development with GNSS on the WP76xx series modules?

In the Technical Product Spec. and other info sheets for the module it states that GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and Beidou are supported by this module. However, when I use the Gnss binary that comes with the tools app on the device, it produces errors anytime I try to set GLONASS or Galileo individually on my device, but is successfully applied if I toggle both the GPS and other positioning system on simultaneously (such as GPS and GLONASS - ./gnss set constellation 3).

Does this mean that this module only supports other positioning systems when used in combination with GPS? Because it also states in the Legato documentation and AT command guide that GPS is always enabled by default when using the Gnss binary, or toggling in the modem.

I also tested these same commands on a WP7603 and I have the same results; only combined GPS + “another positioning system” works. None of them work standalone (except GPS).

Why do you want to shut down gps?

FYI:

Ah interesting. Thank you for the quick reply!

We’re not trying to disable GPS as much as we are trying to understand what functionality is available to us from the GNSS system accessible via the device. For example, my colleague in Europe wanted to disable GPS temporarily to enable GLONASS to see if there is any differences. But as this thread points out, we ran into errors configuring anything without combined GPS.

Which the product page for this device lists each positioning system separately:

Which it wasn’t immediately apparent that these positioning systems only work in combination with GPS enabled. Also, we saw that note in the AT guide, and it seems like the only place where this is mentioned.
