Why "QMI protocol error (14)"

what SIM card or network operator are you using?

we use physical SIM cards and the operators are French: Orange - SFR - Bouygues

Then i think you can use the GENERIC one.
The Sierra Wireless one is for using Sierra Wireless SIM card.

I think I am using the R8 (Sierra Wireless) version: RC7620, RC7620-1 :worried:
Is it possible to distinguish the version in the message ?

at!IMPREF?

This is the Sierra version I use.
Could this be the cause of the problem?

Hello jyijyi,

As the problem was still not solved, I wanted to test with the latest update available for the RC7620-1 modem.
The update works fine, but I can’t get any signal from the network. :unamused:

Hello jyijyi,

Thanks for your feedback.

To continue working, I put back the version 08.07.00
This morning, in order to do the tests you ask for, I updated the modem again with the version 08.24.02 and now everything works correctly.
I don’t understand why the first update didn’t work.

I will do the test with another modem and come back to you if I find the same problem.

Hello jyijyi,

Another attempt to update on another modem is correct, but the modem no longer responds. :frowning:
Version 08.07.00 to 08.24.02

here is the information before the update:

no further response to the HAYES command.
The modem consumes twice as much power and the USB port is constantly being turned up and down.

Can you give me the procedure to recover the dialogue with the modem?

Thank you for your help

Is it keeping on reboot?

yes without stopping.

Can you give me the procedure to recover the dialogue with the modem?

Not sure how can you update firmware if it keeps rebooting

I need the modem back.

Here is the feedback from our salesman:

“Fota Team have determined there was a critical bug in R9.0 as released last month, units need a hard reboot after update before re notifying the server.
Customers wanting to update to R9 will actually need go to R9.0.1”

The problem is serious and comes from you.
I really need a solution to get the modem working normally.

how did you update the FW previously?
Are you using AVMS FOTA?

I saw there is a TP1 boot pin which you can force module to go to download mode:
image

For the update I use the “fwdwl-litearm” method.

the file name of the R9 version is:
RC76xx_Release9_GENERIC_GCF_7620.spk

no, I don’t use AVMS FOTA.

For the TP1 pin, we will see if our hardware allows us this intervention.

then this statement is not related as you are not using AVMS FOTA:

“Fota Team have determined there was a critical bug in R9.0 as released last month, units need a hard reboot after update before re notifying the server.
Customers wanting to update to R9 will actually need go to R9.0.1”

perhaps but the result is the same : it is keeping on reboot.
and there is talk of a new version R 9.0.1
It’s because version R9 has a problem.
