What exactly is the difference between LAN and WAN mode?

I’m using an RV50, and I’m having trouble getting the Ethernet port to work properly. I need the Ethernet port to talk to the internet and a server on the local network, but I can only get one of those to work. Here’s our setup:


When I set the RV50’s Ethernet port to WAN mode, it won’t talk to the Modbus server. When I set it to LAN mode, it won’t talk to the internet. What exactly is the difference between these two modes? Which one should I be using for this application?

It looks like you need to setup your Ethernet Router with the proper settings. Do a google search on Router on a stick. there are good videos for this.
