Reset from at+cpsms command on HL7802

Hi,

I’ve recently changed to the HL7802 modem (from the HL7800) and after giving the command AT+CPSMS=0 (shortly after power on) the modem seems to reset itself. That never happened with HL7800 running 4.6.9.4 (i’ve never encountered that).

aattee00

OK
at+cpsms=0

+SIM: 0

Is this normal behaviour? Firmware is the latest 4.6.9.4.

Also, the modem seems to be rebooting on its own:

Hi hkiol,

I can not reproduce this issue on my HL7802 FW 4.6.9.4.

How many devices did you observe this issue? If It’s just only one, could you please retry on another device?

This is happening on all modems that I am testing (3 for now).

Just to be clear, after power up I am giving AT+CPSMS=0 and the modem resets.

But the modem also resets on its own if I leave it on for an extended amount of time and don’t communicate with it.

Also, do I have to give the command AT+CPSMS=0 at all if I don’t plan to use PSM? Is it 0 by default?
I am asking so that I disable PSM from my application for the time being until I figure out this issue.

thanks

Hi hkiol ,

Yes, it is. AT+CPSMS=0 is to disable the use of PSM. It is 0 by default.

Are you able to reproduce the issue 100% on all HL7802 modules?
What is the output of folling command?
AT+KSLEEP?
AT+CFUN?
AT+CEDRXS
You can try disabling sleep mode, eDRX, and resetting the module
AT+KSLEEP=2
AT+CEDRXS=0
AT+CFUN=1,1

Hi Donald,

Thanks for the reply again.

Here’s the commands you listed:

AT+KSLEEP?

+KSLEEP: 2

AT+CFUN?

+CFUN: 1

AT+CEDRXS

AT+CEDRXS?

Also, POWER_ON_N pin is connected to an open-drain pin of the microcontroller which is floating when the modem is ON.

WAKEUP pin is tied to VGPIO as I am not using PSM at the moment.

the reset pin is connected to an open-drain pin of the microcontroller which is floating when the modem is ON.

Are you able to reproduce the issue 100% on all HL7802 modules?

I’m still getting the reset after AT+CPSMS=0 on every module that I’ve tried.

I was initially using this command to switch from PSM to normal operation. I found that using the WAKEUP pin was not enough.

thanks

Mind you, I am configuring the modem with KSRAT=1.
Mine:

MAC: ALT1250_02_01_02_00_111_NB

Yours:

MAC: ALT1250_02_01_02_00_123_2G

I think your modem is on 2G.

edit: modem resets after AT+CPSMS=0 even on KSRAT:2

cpsms_log.txt (601 Bytes)

On another note, I believe the modem is resetting by itself because of some sort of a timer timeout.

When for example the modem can’t find signal for a while, it is internally reset.

Or when it is connected to a carrier and the modem is not using its connection maybe the carrier drops the connection forcing the modem to reset?

thanks

Hi hkiol,

No, the HL7802 module does not have this feature. Please try to re-flash the HL7802 firmware or downgrade the firmware to the previous version 4.6.8.0 and recheck.
