RC7620-1 firmware revision 10 does not install

We are having difficulty loading firmware on the RC7620-1 modems. The file we are attempting to load is ‘RC76xx_Release10_GENERIC_7620.spk’ and it was downloaded from the Sierra Wireless site: https://source.sierrawireless.com/resources/airprime/software/rc76xx/rc76xx-firmware-release-10,-d-,0/

We upload the firmware using the AT commands and the XMODEM-1K protocol. After the firmware is loaded onto the device, the installation commands return ‘Package installation result fails or status is unknown’. The relevant part of the log is:

<AT+WFWUPD?
>+WFWUPD: 1
>OK
<AT+WFWUPD=1
>OK
...time passes...
>+WFWUPD: 1

A closer inspection of the firmware file shows that it has EXACTLY the same hash as the firmware for the RC7611-1 which seems unusual, considering they are different hardware, and perhaps an error was made uploading the file.

Can you please provide a link to a valid RC7620-1 firmware release 10 for us to cross-check and load onto our devices?

I run the “RC76xx_Release10_GENERIC_7620.exe”, i can upgrade the RC7620-1 module.

Why do I get +WFWUPD: 1? How can I diagnose this issue and move on?

We can’t use the .exe because the module is embedded, and we must use the AT commands and the .spk file.

is it ok to do on .spk of FW R8?

We have done all our testing against R10 and would now like to deploy it to our devices.

I believe the link to the R10 spk is the wrong file. Comparing the firmware R9 between RC7611 and RC7620, the hash is different. It makes no sense for R10 they are exactly the same.

Is there a way to extract the spk from the R10 exe?

i used 7zip in windows to extract the EXE
