We have some MP70 units installed in vehicles that also have a dash camera system that can be streamed back to our dispatch. This system also automatically uploads video over LTE through our IPSec tunnel back to the data center. We currently only have 5 MP70 units installed, but are in the process of installing 29. We have concerns about the amount of data coming into our data center which will adversely affect our internet speed because we will have 6-7 vehicles working at a time and they will be uploading video randomly.
Basically, the way our camera system works is that as soon as it sees the IP of the video server on the network, it uploads video. It doesn’t know if it’s on a tunnel or whatever, it just knows it sees the server IP to it sends video. The problem is that since the camera system is connected to the Sierra which is connected to the data center via tunnel, it always sees the server IP thus automatically uploads video as soon as it can. This IP is the same IP the system has to talk to for us to live stream the camera in the vehicle.
Our units are configured for client + AP wifi where they connect as a client to a specific SSID when they pull up to the building. Bottom line, we would like to make it where the video does not upload until it connects to that specific SSID as a client, but still allow us to live stream the cameras - but again, the problem is they both use the same server IP for those functions.
Any ideas?
