MC7354 GSM Support

Hi,

First, I am new at understanding SW cards, so please bear with me. We are looking to use the MC7354 in a custom router. Right now we use Huawei LTE cards, but are having some overheating issues.

With MC7354, there seems to be software configuration files required to work on various networks. I understand there is different firmware/config for CDMA (Verizon) vs GSM (Everyone else), and can understand this. Seems like getting the MC7354 activated on Verizon’s network is quite a headache anyway.

My question is if we only want to support GSM carriers, do we need to deal with loading config files for different carriers, like AT&T, Telus, Bell, etc…?

Or, can we use a “generic” GSM config, and simply set the APN as needed since that is really all that needs to change from GSM carrier to GSM carrier?

Thanks for the help, and if I missed a document I could find this in, just point me and I am happy to read.

Hi,
yes, you can use the generic configuration.

To can refer the documents @ http://source.sierrawireless.com/devices/mc-series/mc7354/

Thanks for the answer.

I read through a number of those documents before I posted, but saw references to different files needing to be loaded even based on GSM carrier, so it is a bit confusing to me since most GSM data cards don’t require any type of changing of config files on the card itself.

Anyway, appreciate the info and will look to start testing/integrating.

Mark

All the best
