MC7304/MC7330 for Japan

Hi All

I want to test the module in Japan.
But I meet a question.
In the Japan, the “SIM free” is running in May this year.
It means we can use the MC7304 or MC7330 on the other carrier(NTT docomo , softbank, or KDDI…etc).
Is it right?

  1. May I use the Japan sim( any carrier if band support ) put into MC7304 and connect to cell? the get Ip address?
  2. the MC7330 FW is sim lock on NTT-docomo, does it have release newest FW for sim free?
  3. or someone have the experience?

you can try with generic firmware… it should support all carriers…

I have here with me a MC7330 with the following firmware: “SWI9X15C_05.05.26.00 r21289 carmd-fwbuild1 2014/04/02 18:24:1”

For some reason it looks like as if the device is locked to one operator, as the original reported stated with:

The “Initiate Network Register” QMI NAS command is giving me “FAILURE: UimUninitialized”; and when I check the status of the SIM card with QMI UIM “Get Card Status” command it says that the “usim” application requires the “gw-network” personalization code:

So, is that so? is this firmware locked to NTT Docomo? And if it isn’t, why could it be asking for the gw-network personalization code?
