Getting cellid of cell towers around

Could you please recommend modules that can help to receive cellid/lac of all cell towers around without the inserted sim card?

Cell ID is the identifier of a base station, as far as I know, this information can only be obtained when the module is registered to network.
Therefore, retrieving the Cell ID of a base station requires a SIM.

Currently we use SIMCOM and Quectel modules. They can give needed information about cell towers without sim cards. We are planning to switch to Sierra modules due to some reasons and wondering if there are similar functionality.

You said that you can get the Cell ID without using a SIM, so how did you do it, and what command did you use? According to you, how is Cell ID defined?

Hi,

There is command in SIM800/SIM900 AT+CNETSCAN, it shows needed information, for example.
