EM7565 problem selecting bands index

Hi

I have an EM7565 with firmware version 01.05.01.00 connected to the dev kit on a linux configuration. I use both AT commands and qmicli V1.20 to configure the modem.

When I use the AT command AT!BAND? to get the currently configured band, I have the following output

Unknown band mask. Use AT!BAND to set band.
100600000FC00000 0000A700BA0F19DF 0000000000000000 0000000000000002 0000000000000000 4800000000000000

This corresponds to the config present in the modem by default (either the config when it has been delivered, either included in the firmware version 01.05.01.00 I uploaded).

This configuration is a priori a test configuration as some of the index set do not correspond to any referenced band …

So I tried to chnage this configuration to point at 00 (All bands) configuration that will be my final operational configuration.
So I used AT command : AT!ENTERCND=“A710” followed by AT!BAND=00
I have had status OK returned to me.

But, when I send again AT!BAND? I have still got the same answer

Unknown band mask. Use AT!BAND to set band.
100600000FC00000 0000A700BA0F19DF 0000000000000000 0000000000000002 0000000000000000 4800000000000000

It seems impossible to move from this unknow configuration to a predefined one (in fact to the 00 one in my case).

Has anybody succeeded in chnaging the default band configuration in its EM7565 ?
A problem with the firmware ?
A problem with the AT commands I use ?
Is there another way to select the index 00 (All bands) configuration ?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I believe you should reset again AT!BAND to “default” (please refer to documentation).

Hi

Thanks for your answer.

I have the AirPrime EM75xx AT command reference manual (41111748 rev1) in front of me and the only commands that are described in it concerning AT!BAND are :

AT!BAND= to select a band set

AT!BAND= ,"", … to define a new band set

AT!BAND? to get the currently configured band set

AT!BAND=? to get all the supported band sets currently defined with their respective band characteristics

So I do not understand what you mean in your answer when you write “you should reset again AT!BAND to “default””. What command sequence do you expect me to do please ? For the moment, I execute :

  ATZ

  AT!ENTERCND="A710"

  AT!BAND=00

end then

  ATZ

  AT!BAND?

and there I have still the wrong band set selected.

When you write “please refer to the documentation”, to which documentation, which page do you refer to ? I just found description of the AT!BAND command in the

AirPrime EM75xx AT command reference manual (41111748 rev1) and I do not see what paragraph I should refer to to get more information about how to sequence AT commands to select a new band set. It is just describing the 4 ways to use this command that I described at the beginning of this message.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply. Have you tried AT!BAND=? .

Regards,

Zainul

Yes I have tried

Remember thta wghta I want to do is select the 00 “All bands” band list instead of the dummy one that is configured by default.

Here is my sequence :

AT!ENTERCND=“A710”

AT!BAND?

There it displays :

Unknown band mask. Use AT!BAND to set band.

100600000FC00000 0000A700BA0F19DF 0000000000000000 0000000000000002 0000000000000000 4800000000000000

Then I execute :

ATZ

AT!ENTERCND=“A710”

AT!BAND=00

Then I execute again :

AT!ENTERCND=“A710”

AT!BAND?

There it displays :

Unknown band mask. Use AT!BAND to set band.

100600000FC00000 0000A700BA0F19DF 0000000000000000 0000000000000002 0000000000000000 4800000000000000

So it has’nt chnaged to 00 band list … it remains with and unknown confiugration.

And concerning the command you suggest, I executed it several times with always the same result (I have the correct bands content confiugred in it … I just want to swithc from current config selected to the 00 one … the current config that does not correspond to any one in below conf is the one present by default in the modem either wjhen delivered to the customer, either updated when in loaded the lats firmware … but in any case I have been able to swithch to the 00 band … I did not tried to switch to other bands because the operational one is 00 for my application … and as I am in France, I would not like to switch to a band for US only or ASIA only if the switch to another band than 00 succeeds … so I prefer to try only with 00 index one).

Hello

I’ve only MC/EM7455 and believe at!band? doesn’t valid for that EM7565 module.

Regards

Zainul

However, thanks for the help.

Hi

Do I do something wrong with my AT commands to chnage the Band list selection to index 00 ?
In that case, how should i do ?

Otherwise, is it a bug with current firmware (as far as I know, I have uploaded the last version in the modem I use), a problem with the drivers (I use Fedora 27, last version arrived in november basically including the support for EM7565) or a problem with my modem ?

Thanks

Hello,

I’ve a limited knowledge and I’m only an ordinary user. I believe you no need to set that AT!BAND=“00” because that module covers so many bands, regions and depends on SIM only. Anyway I believe an experts could answer you question.

Regards,

Thanks a lot for your answers and support.

But for the application I am working on, we really need global worldwide coverage. We really need the 00 band list to be selectable and to work correctly.

However any band list should be selectable using an AT command. Which does not seem to be possible with the AT command and the sequence I use. I hope someone from Sierra will answer to my questions about the EM7565.

Regards.

Could you please try the following pair of commands, in this order?

AT!BAND=1
AT!BAND=0

Thanks a lot, this procedure works. I have just tried it. My modem is configured with index 00.

Do you know if it is a problem and in final modem/firmware release, we will be able to switch to index 00 directly or if it will remain like this and even in the modem/firmware final release it will be necessary to switch first to index 01 and then to index 00 to go to the “all bands” ?

This shouldn’t happen with final modems (yours is an early sample, correct?).
Do you have a Sierra contact? (You can discuss this further with them.)

Yes it is an early sample.
No I have no Sierra contact.
