Developer Studio 1.2.0 beta available

Developer Studio 1.1.2 can’t be installed on Linux 64 bits systems.
Please have a try with the 1.2.0 beta, it should work with this version.

I downloaded updatesite.sierrawireless.com/be … inux64.zip
then added the update sites
* wavecom.com/eclipseUpdates/m2mstudio
* wavecom.com/eclipseUpdates/m2mstudioProduct
and tried to installe developer studio.
There is another update site with beta version?
thanks

Please don’t use the wavecom.com/eclipseUpdates sites.
Just use the downloaded zip, by drag’n drop in the “Install New Software” dialog.
Then just select the sole feature present in the “Developer Studio for Eclipse” category.
And it should be ok.

Is this for Eclipse 3.6 only? I’m trying install it on Debian Squeeze’s Eclipse 3.5.2 (i386) without success. :frowning:

Unfortunately yes; Developer Studio is using APIs which have been reworked between Eclipse 3.5 and 3.6.
As a consequence:
→ Developer Studio 1.1.2 is compatible with Eclipse 3.5 but not with 3.6
→ Developer Studio 1.2.0 is compatible with Eclipse 3.6 but not with 3.5

Hi all,

Developer Studio 1.2.0 release candidate is available for download from now.

Developer Studio standalone installer can be downloaded from here: http://updatesite.sierrawireless.com/beta/1.2.0.RC/DevStudio120RCSetup.exe
You can also give a try with our new hosting solution (under tests) by using the light installer provided here:
http://updatesite.sierrawireless.com/beta/1.2.0.RC/SoftwareInstaller.exe

TM application archives can be downloaded from here:

A release note listing changes since 1.1.2 can be found here: http://updatesite.sierrawireless.com/beta/1.2.0.RC/releasenote.html

The delta regarding the M4 release is summarized below:

  • Backtraces decoding functionality, including explicit backtraces titles + link to source code
  • Updated info page
  • Projects - Ports link, allowing to automate some operations (e.g. configuration file for backtraces decoding)

This version is still not the final one, so it includes some known issues/limitations listed below:

  • No RTE Debug
  • No backtraces decoding in “offline mode” (from file created with the ADL Error service)
  • Infos page is filling slowly
  • Download request may fail if the target sends many traces

Please don’t hesitate to send us any remark or feedback you should have regarding this release candidate.
Enjoy using this new Developer Studio release!

There was an issue with the hosting server cache refresh (impacting only the installation through the light installer). This has been fixed now: you should give another try.

the installation has succeded.
thanks!

I’ve noticed a problem connecting to a target that is in development mode - console is not active and “no target detected” info. To switch the module back to the production mode I had to download w.dwl file using hyperterminal. To avoid this problem you would have to switch back to production mode before disconnecting.

Please note that you can reset production mode by issuing the AT+WDM=0 command and then reseting the target. Developer Studio should do it when you either close it or even simply close the port.
What is your Firmware version? Is the target doing something special (any activity on the serial line)?

My bad, it’s not the developers mode problem itself. This problem appears only after trying to download the application using USB port. Download doesn’t start after reboot as the USB connection is lost for the moment. After that it is impossible to connect to target. Restarting the Developer Studio and the module didn’t help. Even downloading the application using Hyperterminal with the w.dwl allowed to connect the target just one time. After the reset or disconnection it didn’t connect anymore. Reflashing the firmware put everything back to normal.

What made me think that this is a problem related to development mode was the fact, that after unsuccessful connection to target using Developer Studio the module actualy was in development mode what I could notice using Hyperterminal. The only commands issued from the Hyperterminal that I could see the results of were at+cfun=1 and at+wdwl.

I’m using fw.: 7.44 on Q2686G and Q2687RD

It’s true that Developer Studio doesn’t handle USB connection correctly, since it looses connection as soon as the target reset. We currently have a look at this to see how we can enhance USB handling.

If only AT+CFUN=1 and AT+WDWL commands are answering something else than just ERROR, you were certainly in bootloader mode.

i got the follow error message:

Cannot complete the install because some dependencies are not satisfiable
org.polarion.eclipse.team.svn.connector.javahl.win32.feature.group [2.2.2.I20100512-1900] cannot be installed in this environment because its filter is not applicable.

same error as i’m using the updatesite.zip.
what is wrong with my environment?

by the way :
my environment is : ubuntu 10.10 and eclipse-cpp-helios-SR1-linux-gtk

When installing Developer Studio over Eclipse, you should only check the Developer Studio plug-ins feature in the Developer Studio for Eclipse category, otherwise you may try to install features that are not applicable to your environment.

thank you , daav. it work!

but after these, the 3.6.0 svn connectors still can’t install. does the eclipse official svn plug-in is compatible to the open-at project?

Yes off course.
Maybe should you ask some support to the Subversive community…

OK, thanks again.

wavecom.com/eclipseUpdates/m2mstudio now contains 1.2.0 so this might need some updating:
Otherwise you and up attempting to install 1.2.0 on eclipse 3.5.

This needs to be properly documented in the AT Commands Guide
