We are in the process of upgrading our field analyzers, and I am having difficulty connecting to them remotely. The analyzer we are using requires multiple network ports to be opened through our corporate firewall, and I have been running into challenges getting those ports approved for Ethernet-based access.
I recently learned that the analyzer can be accessed via its serial port, so I am exploring whether it is possible to connect through the analyzer’s modem using my computer’s Ethernet connection, then forward that connection to the analyzer through its serial port.
For reference, the analyzer in question is an Emerson 470XA, and I am attempting to connect using the native MON2020 software. We were able to connect to the previously used (now discontinued) Daniels 570 analyzer using port 502, but this approach does not work with the new analyzer.
Unfortunately, networking and remote connection configurations are not areas where I have much experience, so I am trying to better understand what options may be available.
