Over the air firmware update is not an acceptable solution for a production environment. I am looking for a wired solution. On the product support page, the BC118 flasher software csrsupport link is showing “Products on CreatePoint are no longer available on CSRSupport”. I registered on Qualcomm CreatePoint and I am waiting for an answer. “Your Request is being evaluated and you will be notified when you are given access” I am going in the right direction to get the firware update software ?
Also, on the product support page, in the firmware download section there are no firmware for the BC118.
The list of available firmwares are for products BC127 and or BC127-EXT.
I would like to update my modules to MelodySmart 4.0.0. Latest firmware listed in the change log of the user guide. We bought modules for evaluation at Digikey.
You should be able to flash the unit using the Blueflash tool which comes with the Bluesuite tool from the CSR web site which I discuss in the below link (the Bluesuite tool set not Blueflash).
To use Blueflash you would need to use the SPI interface on the modules which is good because it is far faster than any other method. You do need to buy the CSR SPI chip from Digikey as the SPI interface is proprietary.
For the firmware files themselves you are going to need to get them through one of our more specialist distributors as we do not have any on the source (not good I know). If you contact one and the project can be registered with the relevant apps engineer who supports the distributor you have chosen sending you the files for the firmware you want.
Do you guys upgraded BC118 FW version up to v4.0.0 ?
The Melody Smart change log shows that: “THIS RELEASE IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH EARLIER VERSIONS AND CAN NOT BE UPGRADED OR DOWNGRADED OVER THE AIR FROM/TO 3.X”
Not to thread-jack, but I’m trying to find the BlueSuite toolset and it’s no longer at the link that mlw posted above. I’m also not able to find it on the CreatePoint portal. Any ideas where it’s available now?
Yes CSR have moved it, I do not think it is available any longer. We are releasing a new version of the upgrader tool to the source shortly, it will be at the below link in the next few days (I have been promised).
